Hello!

We have the chance to lease a home in Vineyard Meadows in Katy. We are selling our home in Sugar Land and then renting for a bit, while we build our next home. We aren't entirely sure where we will be building next, so we opted for renting for a short while so we can decide.

Anyway, I found a cute house in this subdivision (Near Clay and 99/Grand Parkway), specifically Clay and Mason. I know nothing of this area other than it is listed as Katy. We are looking at about 1-2 homes in Cinco but we aren't fixated on South Katy. I just need to know if this area is good, etc.

We live in a middle class area in SL. We feel safe walking dog, mail box, etc. Can anyone give us insight? Thank you!

There's a little more crime in North Katy than South, but overall crime is pretty minimal here. I would buy homes farther from Fry and Mason if you're worried.

If you see bars on the windows at convenience stores, liquor stores, or homes, go look elsewhere.

Clay and Mason - that area is marginal from a personal safety standpoint - after dark will be dicey if you are not a man. I used to go to places for lunch around there. Some hinky characters around....

Just saying...cause you asked.
