A lot of credit unions offer interest checking with direct deposit and using your debit card. Mine has 2% interest on balances up to $20K. With mobile check deposit and atm fee reimbursements, you don't need a bank with branches everywhere anymore.

Thank you for your answers.
I'm gonna go with Wells and Fargo. I would go with a credit union, but I need to wire money from abroad and credit union accounts probably do not allow that.

wiring fees are around 30-50 for all major banks..Citi allows you to operate a dual checking account for certain countries..

If you wiring international, it is easier to go with Chase.

They have a better wire department and setup online.

I use to do wires daily for business and occasionally personal. In order of not screwing up and ease of use is 1) chase 2) citibank 3) wells fargo.

I use all 3 of them before.

I still have Citibank as a checking because of the convenience factor if you travel to the far east.

It can be a little annoying if you're determined to only go to their ATMs, but Amegy has really good service and they're very accommodating in comparison to the other major banks.

OP seems to have made his decision, but I am going to reply anyway because I never skip a opportunity to rant about Chase.

I had two accounts with Chase that had been originally opened in 1987 back in the Texas Commerce Days. Old accounts, long time customer. Did a couple of car loans with them over the years, and one mortgage.

Two years ago, I retired from my corporate job and started a business with my wife. I needed a small business loan, so I went to them first. Called them on the phone. Visited two separate branches. Never could catch the business loan guys in the branch. Left multiple messages. It's been over a year, still no call back.

Ended up using Frost Bank for the business, and we are happy with them. And we closed our Chase accounts - boy that felt GOOD!

I also have a checking account with Schwab Bank. I use Schwab for my investment accounts, and the best feature of the bank is totally free ATM transactions and totally free wire transfers. No branches of course. So it depends on what you need.
