Wait, really? Any link to that? That's pretty awful.

I'm all for equal rights, but some things may just be crossing the line.
This statement shows two things:
1. That you don't understand anything about transgendered people.
and 2. That you're not actually "all for equal rights". You would have to be educated on the issues to be for something, and you're not.

Thanks for doing Houston a favor.

Not just that, but transwhatevertheyarecallednows are an infinitesimal segment of the population. Despite the heavy representation in the media, gays are only estimated to be 2-5% of the populations. Tranhumans have to be MUCH smaller than even that. So one valid criticism that has nothing to do with morals or religion is that it is silly to spend public resources on a group of people that are a fraction of a percent of the population.

In light of the fact that equal rights are already guaranteed by the Constitution and enforced by federal law, they see HERO as grandstanding by the mayor and city council in attempt to distract voters from longer-term issues facing our city that everyone loves to complain about but that no politician can realistically resolve during their time in office (crime issues, roads, etc).

They're rightly offended by last year's subpoenas of church sermons and feel that a vote for HERO is a show of alignment with those who orchestrated this.

Anyways, anyone who would make a decision about whether to move themselves or their business to Houston based on the outcome of a single municipal election is a moron who doesn't deserve to live in our fine city.
Sorry, but this is nonsense. The Constitution doesn't guarantee equality in the way people seem to believe. Otherwise, there never would've been slavery. Women would've always had the ability to vote. Gay people would've always been able to marry. Same with 2 people of different races. Segregation wouldn't have existed. Need I go on?

Most states still have no laws protecting gay people from housing and employment discrimination. There is no federal law either, outside of government workers.

Columbia, South Carolina, just booted out an anti-LGBT-rights at-large city council rep who was elected partially on LBGT support but then nearly died from an ailment and had an epiphany that he said changed his life and made him rethink what's really the truth versus relativism. He started voting no at City Hall on ordinances that have advanced the city's LGBT rights. He came in a weak third yesterday. The two candidates who will now have a run-off in two weeks each support Columbia's LGBT community. Disappointed Houstonians could stay and fight or move to Columbia.

So people should only be considered from a legal perspective if they are part of a demographic that makes up an unspecified % of the overall population?

You know how awful that sounds, right?
