Good Morning,

Everytime I google a question about Houston, I always get pointed in this direction. So I figured I'd ask a question here.

I purchased raw land that was annexed by the MUD district before I purchased it. So when I call about getting utilities connected, they say I have to pay for me to get hooked on. They quote me a price and in my opinion I am better off getting a well and a septic. The catch is they still want their Tax money. I am probably going in to a board meeting and seeing what I could do. I would love to be served by the MUD district but find it pointless that I have to pay for me to get the utilities.

Rant over, my questions are, is this common procedure for mud districts? Can they just tax me and not provide anything? How can I get out the MUD district?

Thanks!

You'd have to move to get out of the mud district. If you aren't tapping into their lines it's still their available for use. But at some point everyone pays to connect
