we are in a 900 sq ft 1.5 bedroom 2nd floor apartment. in a building that is less than 3 years old. my husband and i leave our computers running all the time and are generally not very energy conscious with anything in our apartment (aside from turning lights off in rooms after we leave.) we keep our thermostat at 68-70 and our kwh hasn't been over 800. we don't have curtains up on our windows yet, but plan on installing some thicker ones for insulation and heat blocking help in the next couple weeks so i only expect our kwh usage to possibly go down just a bit, hopefully.

i was also just looking at the powertochoose.org and eyeing the gexa 3.4 plan because of the fact i'm not really too worried about going over 1001kwh and the $25/month credit looks pretty good.

i think estimating your kwh at less than 1000 is pretty safe. unless your in the peak of summer heat, which should only be a couple months. like someone else said, once we get into october you'll be golden.

on any other note, good luck with your shopping and choosing. we are currently with reliant and paying 13.9cents per kwh. after moving from a 1600sqft house to a 900sqft apartment i expected our energy bill to be a lot better than it is. ... i don't know much about energy companies and plans so this is frustrating.
