In this country, everyday the government is removing safety nets and we are becoming a nation of beggers.
Firefighters should never have to ask for donations
But we always have money to fix other country's problems

For some reason I think those guys are scamming -- wearing those reflective vests they are everywhere. My church has never stood on street corners for donations. The most I've seen my church do is a car wash.

I think it is good lesson to teach kids work=money. So I gladly stop for car washes...etc., but putting your hand out is a big turn off.

I had a neighbor kid come over, ring my bell, and asked if he could wash my car or do some chores in the yard for money. That is the type of effort that needs to be encouraged and rewarded.

That's poor counter to the statement made. Simply not having to pay taxes doesn't mean all churches are loaded. Plenty of them struggle

Them and anyone wearing snazzy looking outfits. I don't carry cash on myself too often, so I can't bother...

True churches aren't out on the streets asking for funds from strangers. They just aren't. Teens may hold a car wash for mission trips, etc and even that us usually done on church property with kids holding signs advertising it to passing traffic. They don't go door to door or solicit you at intersections. In fact, if you go to a new church and you're asked to do this --- run, don't walk, away.

I go to church every Sunday and I know for a fact that any church that is struggling is because they spent more than they should have spent.
And then they pull the typical BS "We are under budget" ... ok, where are you going to cut the spending?

Welcome to our government. But of course you seem to have no issue with their generous policies.
