Here is the list for example.
31 Plants That Repel Mosquitoes

I am curious how far do they repel insects/mosquitoes? Any experience?
In other words, are these plants worth using around the yard solely for purpose of scaring mosquitoes away?

It is compounds found within the plants that do the repelling. These compounds need to be released from the plant to unlock the mosquito-repelling qualities. Depending on the species of plant, they can be released by either crushing, drying, or infusing the plant into an oil or alcohol base that can be applied to skin, clothing, or living spaces. Others are best used as as a smudge, which releases the compounds in a smoke. Just sitting near living plants that repel mosquitoes is not effective.

My friend spent a fortune planting citronella grass all over her garden. She was surprised that Mosquitos still came to her yard.

I explained....You can have citronella candles everywhere, but they only work when you light them.

Maybe if you had rambunctious dogs that repeatedly crushed them, however that doesn't seem to be the best plan.

Get rid of any standing water. Use mosquito dunks if you have a fountain. Install fans if possible. Wear mosquito repellant or use a spray/ fogger.

Thanks for this info- I saw the post circulating, but I had some doubts if it actually worked. Thank goodness for screened in porches.
