Please help, I just cant find a good handyman to help me encapsulate the crawlspace of my small bungalow in the city. I looked for big time contractors and they want my two arms and two legs after I had offered the 4 legs of my dog.

I used to have a halfway decent handyman who moved to Austin for a job.

Also looking for some decent landscape contractor to rehab my backyard.

Thanks in advance.

You'll get better help posting, or looking in Craigslist. Do you want to seal it up with cinder blocks, or just make it so dogs/cats/rats don't get underneath? Or do you really want to encapsulate it with a plastic liner? Just curious.

Just want to encapsulate. I did a lot of research and it appears that open crawlspace with conditioned living space is not a great idea. A layer of 20mil plastic vapor barrier lining the dirt floor and wrapped up against the foundation wall along with plugging the vents will do the job.

I tried craigslist, but it's such a hit or miss.

I checked into the liner encapsulation thing, but I think we get too much rain in Houston, that thing would float, and water will still get in somehow I'm afraid. I've never seen it done in Houston, but it could be. So, I would agree, it is not a good idea.... where would all the mosquitos hang out then?
