Can anyone please inform me on the best schools in the Sugarland area. From researching online, it seems that Clements is the favorite. But all the homes on the market seem to be old and dated. Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you just looking at high schools or does elementary and junior high factor into your decision, too? Some of the FBISD attendance zones have been adjusted for next year, most notably with Telfair homes being switched to Clements HS.

If you ask me, the Sugar Land schools are overrated. The high scores from the assessment tests probably are more due to the fact the high number of Asians than the school itself. Not too many apartment complex and lower income neighborhoods probably second biggest factor.

Elkins will probably get higher ranked due to the higher income folks moving into Riverstone. They also rezone some of the lower income neighborhood to the other schools also in the recent rezoning.

I think Austin is probably a better HS school than Dulles.

Telfair is a newer community that zoned to Clements High School. You can take a look. It is a beautiful community.

I am mostly interested in elementary schools. Its hard to objectively compare elementary schools. Hence I've been trying to narrow down via high schools, SAT scores etc. Which elementary schools are the best?

Telfair has recently been rezoned to Clements. When is the rezoning effective, August 2015 school year?

Telfair, First Colony, and Avalon have the "best" overall schools, but others are still very good.

Elementary schools are all the same. The difference is really the ethnic makeup, the number of students on reduced fare lunch, and the type of PTO involvement (this one you need to research on your own unless PTO have website).

http://childrenatrisk.org/wp-content...l-Rankings.pdf

The school ranking is meaningless as it only gauge the number of students that failed the state assessment tests. Almost all kids that do ok in school will pass those tests. The ranking imo is more indicate of the number of lower income students and disadvantaged kids that attend that school instead. I mean what difference is it when 99% pass the test instead of 95% pass the test? Does that mean the 99% school is that much better?

Overcrowding is a real issue also. Commonwealth is like 120% over and not accepting students. I think Colony Meadows is at 100%.

FBISD try to manipulate the zoning so their 4 elementary schools are always ranked near the top. Apartment complex always get zoned out of those 4 schools.

FBISD has been doing it for years when they would fight like hell to keep Clements, etc. relevant in everything so they bussed East End kids to keep the East end schools diluted...except now, the areas closer to Clements are cannibalizing themselves to make sure they can get to a certain school
