What makes a school great? Principal, teachers, and parents. However, you have to remember that schools are big places, with lots of people working in them. You can have a fantastic principal and wonderful teachers, and then your child gets that one "rotten" teacher and your automatic opinion is that the "school is terrible". On the other hand, you could have one wonderful teacher in a school full of slacker teachers and a bad principal, and you would probably think it's a "fantastic school". So, look at the district's curriculum and compare it to another district's...you can ask for these at the admin building...and see if you think it is challenging enough. Ask what programs the district offers. Do they participate in UIL competitions? What do they do for special needs children (including gifted)...and any other questions that you have. Then, go visit the school and meet some people who work there. They won't mind! Base your decision on these things...NOT on websites that have "reviews". By the way, all this advice is given by your friendly neighborhood elementary school teacher. Good luck!

This is true but I'd personally love to hear any personal experiences from parents of children at Wilder Elementary. I've gone to the school as well, took a tour, even went to a PTO meeting just to "get a feel" and I'd still love to hear from any Wilder parents out there.
