Sellers Bros has 12 locations in the Houston area and don't Food Town. If Michoacana is to be tossed in there might as well toss in Pancho's and El Ahorro.

Kroger because it's convenient and Costco. I would do all my shopping at Costco if I could.

When I moved to Houston I made a list of about 50 items I regularly buy at grocery stores, then went to about a dozen grocery chains to check prices.

Main lessons:

- some of the cheaper groceries on meat and produce were very expensive on processed foods
- Kroger and Randalls were very competitive on the 1/3 of items that they had on special, but expensive otherwise.
- Walmart was cheapest overall, but had limited selection outside of staple items
- HEB was surprisingly close to Walmart on prices, but had a better selection.
- No one store carried everything. The best grocery was actually the best combination. That combination is highly dependent on how many "unusual" items you buy regularly.

And finally

- if you walk around a grocery store with a clipboard, people will consistently think you work there.

I tried shopping at Whole Foods for a few months but it just became too expensive. Tried Sprouts for a few months and it's also too expensive. Now I'm back to HEB and the prices are good but the chaos inside can be overwhelming. I have to skip going down several aisles just to avoid the clogs of shopping carts. I miss Randalls. It was always empty in there and I had a Randall's card so the slightly higher prices were manageable. Target doesn't have a big enough selection.

Randalls loads national and personalized coupons on their card via an app and watching what you buy. Only way I would ever use coupons, so for me that works. The atmosphere is much calmer, the stores much cleaner.

I hate the HEB with a passion. The one at Bunker Hill by me is a complete madhouse of wandering, braindead people on their cellphones, going as slow possible down the center of the aisle. I went to Walmart out in the country, but the ones in Houston are disgusting and bordering on 3rd world shopping.

I like Costco for prime steaks though.

We don't eat processed foods or starches, so bargain shopping isn't high on my list.

is randalls closed down?

---

the beauty of houston and most other cities is that there are a million places to shop from the big boys to the local spots

when im there its walmart, heb, + the foodtown/arama places and sams of course

cant see myself getting a ton of groceries from target. target is pretty much only for grabbing impulse junk food like cheezits and oatmeal creme pies and shhh while your shopping for household stuff

youll never catch me blowing money in stores called whole foods... I did see one thst had valet parking, that was interesting

Depends on the Item really

If I'm looking for meats and other produce, I hit up HEB or WholeFoods ( I would say I hit them up 50/50 )

If I know I'm buying a lot of boxed goods and cans, like oat meal, granola bars, toilet paper, paper towels, candles etc. I'll hit up Kroger or Walmart.

For Grocery store bakeries, I always hit up Randalls

For wine, I also hit up Randalls
