Years ago we watched a travel channel show which spoke of small fishing villages along the Gulf coast of Texas.

Where could a non Texan find such a thing?

We're in Houston with TWO days off, unexpectedly, YAY!!!! and hope we can take a bit of a road trip and find a quiet beach and delicious food and some salt water scenery.

Thanks for your help!

"Small fishing villages" sounds like something from Feudal Japan. This is Texas. We have "beach communities" which are conducive to fishing.

Hey--how did you guess I am visiting from Feudal Japan?
That is SO eerie!

If you're looking for a charming, touristy fishing village I don't think you'll have much luck. Galveston/Seabrook/Clear Lake is pretty much it. Real fishing villages are poverty-stricken and not somewhere you'd want to visit.

Are you wanting to go fish? If so, kayak fishing, bay, deep sea charter?
