Does that apply to restaurants as well? Once you go to a world-class restaurant, will you not eat at anything less?

Ok, now that I've ribbed you a little....

Wow, what a beautiful beach. That must have been a nice trip.

My wife and I have been discussing planning a trip to either the Caicos Islands or Cayman Islands; however, that won't be for a few years when the kids are a bit older.

My older brother just got back from a trip to the Caribbean. He rented a 45' sailboat in Puerto Rico and sailed his family to the Virgin Islands where they island hopped for a week.

I know the feeling. After my first time to Cancun 19 years ago, I haven't been back to Galveston for anything except to board a cruise ship that will take me to a beach similar to the one in your photo.

Lets see , the OP posted a thread simply stating that there was no seaweed on the beach at Galveston when they recently visited the island, and somehow people start posting that Galveston is beneath them and is only a stepping stone to a better place. What does this Galveston bashing have to do with seaweed on the beach? The flame against Galveston is pathological, some people just can't seem to help themselves....

Not really bashing anything, I just related to one of the other posters and shared a similar sentiment. Just because I don't care for the beach at Galveston doesn't mean I'm bashing it. I just said I haven't gone back, my prerogative, sorry if it offends you.

I'm not offended just amazed that somehow people just have to post negative comments in a thread that did not ask for critiques. The OP was merely stating a simple observation that there was no seaweed on the beach and somehow it turns into a comparison of Galveston to Aruba or other Caribbean destinations

Off topic response

Spoiler
I wasn't travelling to Aruba, it was my trip to Venezuela and I had a connection in Aruba
one of my flights got delayed and I missed my flight from Aruba to the US
I was stuck in Aruba 3 days with my two little kids (8 and 10)
My cousin put me in contact with a lady in Aruba that rents rooms for $50/night
But since I had to entertain the kids, I had read about Eagle Beach and decided to ride a public bus with them to Eagle Beach.

Simple way to describe it .... looks exactly like the Corona commercials.
BTW, flights to Aruba are very cheap, Southwest is gonna start flights over there next year
Aruba was very pretty, clean, felt safe, a little bit expensive.

Every beach town/area has it's own personality. Galveston is one that I happen to like. I have ever since the early 1940's. Long before Hwy 45. As far as the actual beach in Galveston, I do believe that it was nicer before Hurricane Carla in 1961.
