That is unfortunately the norm for most of the Houston metro area. Also, the drive from Midtown or even the Heights to Highway 6 will run closer to 50 minutes on most days. I work in midtown and live just inside the beltway-- it usually takes me 25 minutes at off-hours and 50 minutes during heavier traffic.

Midtown to Hwy 6 on I-10 takes 20 minutes in the morning. Look for a roommate in midtown or the heights. Or Apartment locators for a cheaper place closer to work. Last few years rents got very high in Houston.

Much availability in the energy corridor now.

Don't worry, you will be fine in the Copperfield area. The area is very suburban. For me that equates to boring, but I prefer the city. Rent is nog going to be bad either out there, especially if you don't have much debt.

I cant believe people are recommending roommates in Houston. Maybe if you really want to be around nothing but out of staters and yuppies in the "hip" areas. They are nothing like they used to be. But you can easily find something for under $1,000=

Says the single, pudgy & balding 45 year old guy who lives near there. Gotta maximize your chances to score, right? Maybe she could teach you something after class. Hell I'd do the same thing if I were you.

Maybe on a great day but you're not typically going to get 17 miles during rush hour in Houston in 20 minutes. I would budget at least 30 minutes.

I lived in Midtown and it can take 10 minutes to get on the freeway when traffic is bad.
