When we bought ours, it was 10 years old. It had the floor plan we wanted, was the most solidly built home we looked at, and the inspector commented it was in above-average shape for its age. It turned out to be a David Weekley home.

Nice, that must make you happy since it is coming from an inspector.

Trendmaker. Just look at their website and fall in love. We love our floorplan and I would choose the same house all over again. There are so many extras included.

at that time we would have bought the average house on the right lot in a gated neighborhood and not on the floodzone and not far from the highway. one day of visiting older houses in my pricerange was enough for me - folks from the NE like us dont like seeing non-masonry walls with dirt/mildew. I also concluded around this time that average joe houstonians probably dont care much for their houses since its cheap and one can easily move and older average neighborhoods tend to go downhill.
we changed the plan when we accidentally encountered a new construction down the road. the almost built houses we saw are way better than my 2 sisters' houses in cypress, better floor plan/standard features. i told the builder rep we only want that almost built house with the 'sold' sign
