Hey y'all. I'm thinking of leasing with The Reserve in Westwood apartments in Alief. I don't know anything about this area, but hear a lot of negative. I absolutely love the renovated apartments. But does the area out weight the beautiful apartment.

Please share all your thoughts, opinions, and experiences about the area and the apartment. Thanks so much!!

Where is work? There is a lot of crime in the Westchase apartment area. Thinking you could go a little north, past Briar Forest.

The complex you describe is in Westwood, not Westchase. I personally consider Westwood to be the single most dangerous neighborhood in the entire city. The complex itself might be OK, and you personally are probably not a prime target for violent crime (mostly happens to either other criminals or from people they already know), but I imagine you would feel very unsafe in any of the nearby commercial areas after dark, or even during the day. That area does have probably the greatest concentration of the city's homicides, that probably tells you something.

Frankly speaking, I would never recommend living in that cesspool that is the triangle formed by Bissonnet, 59, and B8. I'd recommend 5th Ward over that area.

There is always a better option no matter the budget.

I agree what others have mentioned. If you have options try to avoid the whole SW city area. Usually the suburbs are safer.

This is an overstatement. Southwest Houston is 25% of the city and includes many good neighborhoods - Meyerland, Bellaire*, Westbury, Maplewood and Robindell to name a few.

The neighborhoods you have mentioned are really nice no doubt. Please share some good apartments in those areas.

I live a few years in that area, Pont Alba is pretty nice and a very well maintained older property!

Westwood is not Westchase, it is bad bad bad. I drove through it every day on Bissonnet to get to work and during the daylight hours it was bad enough. In my opinion that is the worst area in Houston. I can't imagine why anyone would waste money buying an apartment complex there and renovating it. It needs to be broken up and bulldozed. You can't put THAT MANY run down apartments in such close proximity.
