Ok, let me try another angle. Does anyone know of any activities or places to go that could maybe get me in the Christmas spirit? (Other than the galleria's ice skating)

I just have to vent to somebody that I am absolutely disgusted with our weather. I know if I don't like it "wait a minute" or "leave" but while a lot of the country is getting more than their fair share of winter weather, it looks like we're on a trend for a sunny, warm (low 70's) Christmas day. I can't think of anything more disgusting. Our weather sucks anyway, well beyond sucks but this is just so sad. It doesn't "feel" like Christmas, no matter how many Christmas songs Sunny 99.1 plays or how many Christmas trees I see. I just want to know, does anyone else feel like I do? Does anyone else wish that we could have more of a "winter"? Houston has 2 seasons, hot and hotter.

The true reason for it to feel like Christmas is the birth of Christ and I haven't forgotten that, but Christmas is a time for warm fuzzies with your family created by gathering around the fireplace, it's not supposed to give you the warm fuzzies because it's 75 and 90% humid outside. I want to enjoy hot chocolate, and wearing my beautiful sweaters and my flannel pj's, but unless I crank the a/c down to 50, I just won't get to.

Yessss! I totally agree!! I'm ready to get chilly! I am kinda used to warm Christmases from spending so many with my Grandma in South Florida, so I can usually get in the spirit once I start listening to the music and have my tree lit, etc...but still...

I think we got spoiled with 2004's Christmas Eve snow!! I know I want more (not too much though, LOL) !

My biggest beef with the weather this season is the constant fluctuations. I can't remember a fall/winter that was this bad as far as ups and downs. It's wreaking havoc on my allergies and the cold bug I had over Thanksgiving just seemed to go on and on and on. It makes me crazy!

That cold front came through, and maybe we'll get another before Christmas arrives. All I care about is it being crisp and clear outside, no humidity! Unless it is snowing, that is...

YES!!! I agree 100%! The weather in Houston is almost always awful, but especially around Christmas when I'm in shorts and running the AC like the last two weeks, YUK! I would much rather have the snow and COLD weather. I think its funny to see the heavy Christmas sweaters in the store, if you buy them you have to go north to wear them Just because it's cool today doesn't mean it will be on Christmas, in Houston you never know what you're going to get for weather during this time, I HATE it.

Come to Boston. I think there's a blizzard tonight. My first one. I'm not going to lie, I'm kinda excited.

My friend's mom wishes she was here to relieve her hot flashes.

I grew up in Houston and agree with you completely. The fall/winter has too much potential to be ridiculously warm (I particularly remember 2 consecutive Halloweens when I was growing up where the temps were 93 and 45, respectively. Now I live in Madison, where we've had 22"+ of snow since December 1, and even though I'm sick to death of having to spend 20-30 minutes each morning digging my car out of the fresh batch of white stuff, I'd still rather have this weather than what Houston's been seeing lately. I'll be home next week for Christmas and I have a feeling the weather is going to be nauseatingly warm. If this were March though, I'd be more than happy to change climates with H-town. I like winter, but it gets to a point where enough is enough, y'know?

I am with you 100%! I'm sorry guys, but I do not enjoy these up and down temperatures either.

I will admit that a lot of these past few days have been gorgeous in Texas. Low and warm temperatures with clear skies. But why can't it be like that throughout the fall? And let us have a cool and snowy winter with temperatures in the 20's. It would be the perfect balance with our steaming hot summers.

After experiencing my first Christmas with snow in Brooklyn, as a little girl all I kept thinking was, "How come it can't be like this in Texas?" I was sooooo jealous. And I know that God makes the weather here, but I can't help but be disappointed.

Y'all can say what you want to, but as I've said before, Christmas decorations and snow men do not blend well with sandals, palm trees, and 76 degree weather.

To the OP, if you want Christmas weather in Houston, you can forget it. That's when you might want to consider moving up north. The best Houston will get as far as winters is the occasional chills and ice sheets from the mist.

I grew up in Colorado Springs, so i don't really miss the cold. I do sometimes miss seeing snow but don't miss waking up extra early to warm up my car, driving in snow, always having to bundle up in mittins, heavy coat, hat, and Cold and flu seasons.

Sorry but places like Houston, Florida, and probably the entire south are not "Walking in the Winter Wonderland" temperatures.
