My husband and I are thinking of relocating to Houston. I have a couple of questions. I am a real estate agent. I heard that Texas hasn't really slowed down in the real estate market. Is this true? Also, would like to be outside of the city. I heard that the Southwest part is experiencing growth and is a good place to live. Any suggestions for best schools in those areas? Also, is the heat totally unbearable in the summer?

Uh, SW suburbs are good but the SW side of the Houston city limits can be notoriously rough.

Urban Dictionary: SOUTHWEST HOUSTON,TX

But you're a real estate agent, so I can imagine you can sling a few ambiguous words around to your potential customers to convince them to buy property in this hole.

And yes, the heat is unbearable in the summer to a lot of people, but we have air conditioners for indoor activities. For outdoor activies , a connected water hose and a big jug of water are musts.

hmm that urban dictionary sucks. check out who posted the entry

i think the poster is refering to sugarland/first colony/katy areas as 'SW houston' which are great places. I feel that most middle income transplants move here than any other location in houston

Probably within the first two-three pages of threads, I'd wager.

Haha, didn't even notice that.

I think most people move to the W/SW side because of the proximity to the Galleria, Medical Center and Downtown -- the main working locations, as well as being far away from the refineries.

Hi JConrad! Houston is a great choice to relocate, we're still selling homes down here, and the best place to be is in Northwest Houston. Your children will enjoy attending the Cy-Fair School District. We're not as crowded as the southwest part of town, and we're generally safer. You can still smell trees and watch deer in some parts of our area. Many neighborhoods have great security. MOD CUT
