Has anyone taken FE course at Testmasters? Is it really working? I have seen post from their website but....not sure if I believe it 100%.
I have been out of school for a long time (over 10 years) and want to make sure it's worth the money (over $1000 +) before I register.

I took the FE class from Testmasters in 2012 after being out of school for 7 years. I recommend it for a number of reasons -

1) The class focuses only on the areas most likely to show up on the exam and places an emphasis on the topics that are worth the most points
2) They provide good practice problems and a mock exam - for me these were essential in my preparation
3) You'll get really familiar with the reference handbook - which is crucial to passing the exam
4) It forced me to spend a lot more time reviewing and working problems than I probably would have otherwise (after investing all that money I felt I had to go every time to get my money's worth)
5) I passed! Maybe I could have done it without the class, but who knows...

You won't be a better engineer for taking the class, but you will be prepared to pass the exam. Best of luck!

Is the FE an engineering test that needs to be taken before you can get your PE license? (Had a different acronym where I took it). If so, I think 1k for a class is a lot of money. I bought review materials at a bookstore/online for a hundred or so (3 years after I graduated), and tested just fine.

Testmaster already started the class last week. I guess I will need to wait till next session starts. I think it will be too much of catching up if I start the class a week after.

That's probably the right call. No point starting from behind - the pace is pretty fast.

And Oildog is right - you could study on your own too and likely pass. That option obviously saves a lot of money, but it may cost you a lot more of your time too. Ultimately I think that was the advantage of the testmasters class for me. They provided the materials, balanced the curriculum and kept the focus on passing the exam and nothing more. I think if I had studied on my own it would have been much more time consuming. But maybe that is just a reflection of my own poor study habits!

No chance your employer will pay for part or all?
