Depends what car you have, accidents/claims, traffic tickets, distance to work, your age ...

There is no way people on this forum can even guesstimate an answer for you. Too many factors we don't know. It's best to find a car you want to buy ( I'm assuming you don't have one because you don't have insurance). Get some quotes from some insurance companies. Figure out how far away from work you live, and you can roughly figure out what your gas bill will be.

How many miles are you commuting? Is it against the flow of traffic? What are you planning on living? Are you living in the city, country, or suburbs? What kind of car are you driving? What is the MPG? Does it need regular or premium? How old are you? What is your driving record? Are you male or female? How old is the car?

My advice to you is to go ask a psychic!

Add Eztag expenses on top of other expenses if you are commuting via tollway for work 5 days a week

I have 2 automobiles that is all paid for. Including insurance (no accident) I paid just just over 6k last year (insurance, gas, toll, maintenance). My wife works within 5 miles and I work at home half the time.

I did spend over 2k on brakes and tires and some maintenance work.

Finally someone gives me an ANSWER. Yea I guess that's the average, between $5K-$6K per year.

Perhaps if you asked your question a little better, you would get more answers. Things like distance of commute, location of work, frequency of out/state travel, driving record, type of vehicle etc. all make a difference.

You also need to consider if you are paying for parking. Right now my husband's lucky enough to only be paying $9/day for parking ($2160/yr). His alternative is $13/day, or $3120/yr.
So for him, your figure of $5-6K/year isn't realistic. That wouldn't begin to cover the entire cost of parking/gas/insurance, etc.

If you're using an EZTag, I think it's a minimum balance of something like $40-80 required at all times--so depending on how often you are using the toll roads, that might be drafted from your account whenever it needs to be replenished.

As they say, "hope for the best but prepare for the worst".

I spend about $50 a month on insurance (Geico), $80 for gas ( I drive a small fuel efficient car), and my car payment is $260 a month. So I guess on average I spend nearly $400 a month in car expenses.
