Hello,

I would like to send some household items/toys to a friend in Australia from Houston. The total weight of the items might be around 70lbs.

I checked FedEx and UPS but their rates are very expensive (around $500) for 40lbs.

I was wondering if there are other economical ways (perhaps by sea?) to ship from Houston to Australia. There is no rush on the shipment...budget is the main consideration.

I would appreciate advice from those who may have already done this before.

Thanks

Try searching for Freight / Cargo Consolidators... For some asian contries, we have businesses that charge flat rate boxes (regardless of weight). they Usually go between $65-80 per box (really big boxes). Shipping by sea takes around 4-6weeks and they usually deliver to the destination addresses door.

Default Reliable Cargo/freight consolidators

Thank you so much for your reply. Are there any reputable cargo/freight consolidators in the Houston area?

Airline cargo. Might want to check on that. You can usually pay to ship cargo like that from airport to airport with your receiver picking up the package there.
