When I lived in Houston I used to do 40 mile Saturday rides during the daylight. I towed my Burley Nomad and hit the thrift shops and Galleria. A few times it annoyed drivers who told me to get off the road. But I biked at a 17 to 20 mph range but that's slow to a car. If I biked at night for a workout after work I used a Light & Motion Headlight and about two flashing blinkers on my rear backpack. Many bikers at night can easily be run over by a car when they don't use very bright rear blinkers; that's probably how that Whole Foods bikers died.

Hi vegankris,
I'm a road cyclist, currently living in Bellevue, WA but moving to Houston in late Feb/early Mar for a new job. Would love to talk with you about riding in Houston but another member here (fnh) recommended you as a good source of information for places to live (based on where you finally chose to settle) so I wanted to ask your insights about relocating. I can't send a PM right now but have sent a friend request here. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks.
