Good evening everyone,

I am relocating to Houston from NYC during the early part of 2014 and would like some guidance. I am a native New Yorker who needs a change....I am a former attorney who just finished Physician Assistant school here in NYC and will be interviewing for several positions in and around the Houston area (Hospitals). I was in Houston in 2010 and loved the city.

So here it goes...

Best place to live for 30 yo single Black male who likes to go out occasionally, loves museums, food, outdoors, culture and people? And no I don't expect NYC in Houston lol An area close to the action but not right in the middle of it.........avoiding to much traffic etc

What are some of the better "luxury" type (high rises etc) apartment complexes in Houston that are not to expensive? looking for best bang for my buck....lets say amenities like a Gym or outdoor garden etc

And what is the dating scene like? I need to get married and have some kids eventually lol

All the best and thanks

I would look in the Rice Village area, upper Kirby, Heights, midtown -- all of those great for young, singles and convenient to the Houston Medical Center.

I second the above post - very convenient to the Medical Center, culture, and the nightlife. The upscale apartments are very expensive, but still nothing like NYC. I've heard that PAs make a great salary.

The entire Galleria area, West University, Museum area and Washington Heights are the best places for a single male as yourself to live and have a great social life. Oh, and if you want to really meet someone and get married..... join the Salsa Socials and learn to dance Salsa. It is one of the best social activities you can find in Housotn!!! Let me know if you need more info.

I was raised in Houston, so I can tell you all what there is to know about Houston and the hang out places.
