The mosquitoes are very bad in Lake Jackson, and it is worse around Oyster Creek. They spray a lot, but that usually just decreases the population enough so that you can actually get to your house from your car without being carried away. Lake Jackson is close enough to the marsh to get all of the large mosquitoes that are out all day.

There are fewer mosquitoes when it is cold outside. Late spring, early summer, and fall are usually when they are awful. You get used to having a can of Off in every car and next to every door of the house so that you can spray yourself immediately when you step outside.

I moved to Pearland this summer and was amazed at how many fewer mosquitoes there are. My kids are spending a lot more time outside now, because we don't have to worry about the cloud of mosquitoes following us (even after we sprayed the Off).

Echoing here. The mosquitoes are pretty bad...I would suggest living even just 30 minutes north, and you would see a decrease, especially if you like to take your dog walking.
