Be interesting to know thoughts on the all new garbage pick-up. New waste cans but less service? Previous service was twice weekly in the Spring, TX area, zip 77379. Now once weekly. Same price, less service. I've spoken with Republic Services (waste management)regarding this issue, and they throw it back on MUD stating that this is their doing.
Again, less service, same cost, pretty new waste cans. I'm an early morning walker and the streets reek of garbage because they are only picked up once weekly. Fearful of rodent infestations because of this.

To go along with "the burden falls on taxpayers" is ludicrous. We can only take so much. The burden has to stop. There are more people, more taxes being paid by everyone. It is wage increases and bonuses. Bottom line. And it's not going to the guys that drive the truck. It's going to the desk jockeys that decided to eliminate men for machine. GO Mud!

I personally can't stand having trash cans all over the place twice a week and prefer once a week. But that is coming from my wife nagging me to bring out a trash can that is maybe 1/3 full twice a week. Why do you need to fill up this huge trash more than once a week? Don't know about your service but one place I lived you could pay a one time fee for an extra trash.

Cost of services go up every hear, it is that simple on everything. So it sounds like instead of raising your rates they cut back.

Default Cut Service

Right, cut back their services, same $$. It seems we, as a people, are like the frogs thrown in the boiling pot. Warmer, warmer, then bam, your fried! Little by little the heat is turned up, so no one says anything until the point of too much.

When companies cut back services but keep the same cost, it usually means they did so to avoid raising the price. Expenses go up so it gets passed on to the person using the service.

Does the MUD's contract include curbside recycling? If so, the idea is that you won't need more than once a week trash pick up because a large portion of the waste will go into the recycling can. Also, I would guess there is a good chance you are serviced by Republic's automated trucks, which only have a driver that operates a mechanical arm to empty the cans.

That said, the recycling can wouldn't alleviate the odor problem once a week trash service can create. I'd recommend trying to put as much down your garbage disposal as possible, but that's not possible for some things (like dirty diapers).
