So, have wanted to get the boys a go cart, or maybe smaller dirt bikes. Can't find ordinance information on legal, not legal, etc...around the Cypress area (Spring Cypress and Grant). Would be on streets in the subdivision, and the drainage ditch...

Anybody know???

Don't know but I used to ride a small dirt bike by the bayou at White Oak. I've seen guys riding mopeds there too a couple of weeks ago. It's def illegal though. Not much help to you since it's not in your area.

Not legal anymore. Most entities changed the laws as of Sept 1.

The important thing here is that we get the kids indoors and on Facebook and the XBox.

I'm all for kids being outside but gocarts in the neighborhood is just a bad idea. They're a real noise nuisance and its incredibly dangerous. Bikes/quads on the ditches - I'm okay with that but gocarts on the street just isn't safe.
Gocarts are best on a track.

As if being outside on a motorized vehicle burns more calories?

Yes it does, at least I know me and my brothers were physically exhausted after each riding session as kids.

Its physically demanding just staying on the bike, then each time you wreck it you have to pick the thing back up which weighs 2X more than you do.

As young boys constantly trying to one up each other and going watch this! We were picking the bikes up a lot =]

Such a bummer its illegal now, man so many childhood memories and countless hours riding around the neighborhood retention pond and firebreaks as a kid. Never hurt anybody, never caused any damage other than a few ruts and we had a blast.

I'll agree that riding dirt bikes off road can be physically exhausting... but riding around subdivisions/streets on go-carts and those electric "dirt" bikes are not the same, and offer little to no physical exertion.
