Hello,

Just wondering what the State Of Texas interview process is. I've heard different things. Some people say the background check is done before the interview. Others say it's done after they select a candidate. Or does it depend on the department?

Thanks in advance!

Background check before an interview? Never heard of that myself but I wouldn't be surprise if some places do it.

It's easily a 3 month process that can be all out of order compared to a private company.

i went through it pretty fast a number of years ago. more departments/agencies are having FBI prints run on people in addition to regular criminal background checks. criminal checks are completed first - they won't waste time doing an interview with a person that is barred. when you apply you check the consent for the background check - just like in most private companies

if you have criminal history the state does not mess around. they arent going to select someone than run it.

Testmo, I think that's where I was confused. So the criminal checks are done initially, then the interview. Got it! No criminal history here, I was just wondering if I could eliminate that step from the time frame. Thank you so much!
