Why do Pakistanis want to live close to other Pakistanis?

Welcome to the USA and let's live together, assimilate. Don't be afraid :-D

I've got tons of Pakistani friends. They live everywhere from Sugarland, to West University, to Memorial, to River Oaks, to the Woodlands, to the energy corridor. There are masjids in every area including downtown. I agree with Zainuby that I wouldn't let this be a factor in choosing where to live...think budget, schools, commute, instead.

I think you'd like Sugarland and really good deals on Houses right now. Super nice area.

Khurram, there is an area called the Mahatma Ghandi District which has hundreds of Indian and Pakastani shops and restaurants.

So many folks in this forum talk about the Mahatma Ghandi District and Chinatown / Asiatown when fielding neighborhood requests from Asian incomers. Those areas obviously have a large number of Asian businesses, but I personally doubt whether the business owners and employees live in those neighborhoods. A great many of them live in Fort Bend County, I think.

You are correct that basically none of them live in the immediate vicinity. But they are spread out across all of the suburbs except for the NE ones. Fewer inside the beltway but you'll still see them in basically every neighborhood in Houston.

I know lots of Pakistanis live in NW Harris County around Jones Road, as that's where the Pakistani consulate is.

AFAIK those in SW Houston tend to be fresh off the plane while more established ones are in NW Harris County
