Kenmore. Those things last forever. I want one of the new, smaller sets, but I can't get my Kenmores to break down. I have a 31 year-old set at what was a rental house - and they are still working.

Go for Gas dryer...the extra $100 they charge for gas dryer pays off in less than 2 years.
I have always owned sears or whirlpool.
This week 4th july sale , sears has their no frill w/d for 300 , plus 100 for gas...best buy in town right now.
I am fixing to replace my w/d that is 15 yrs old.k

Thanks for the advice. We'll go shopping this weekend and try to take advantage of the 4th of July savings. I think Lowe's has the best offer till now especially if we could use the movers coupon.

Gas. Got our dryer at the Sears outlet for 50% off due to one little scratch.

We got our new washer/dryer (GE) from Lowe's and were quite happy with them-great service from sale to delivery/set-up.

I believe the estimate is 60 cents per load for electric and 30 cents per load for gas on average. That amounts to a huge savings over time; especially if you do quite a few loads every week.
