Plenty of new homes in the Heights area.

625 E 10th St, Houston, TX 77008 - HAR.com

It's well within your budget, fairly new and good size for the area.

No, there is not a yard, but do you really want yard work.

Houston homes, Houston Open Houses, and New Houston Listings - HAR.com

Search area 16 which is central 600-850 shows 84 places. I bet 1/4th of those will be pending to sale. You can find something in that budget. Most people here come in with a 350K budget. When it does come time to buy. Don't be surprised when you have to offer over asking the day it is first on the market. Get a good realtor. I have had good luck at Greenwood King.

Not sure I understand the OP's "trees and nature" comment. The northwest through northeast portions of the Houston metro are pine forested, and in general there are plenty of trees and greenery most of the year. East Texas is mostly forested, with plenty of lakes and camping, and in San Antonio, you're right on the edge of a huge and beautiful area loved by nature lovers (the Hill Country).

But best of luck on your search. There's plenty to choose from regarding housing.
