I am staying at a hotel in the suburban are of houston. but I would like to check out the nightlife scene in midtown and washington ave areas. Where should I park my car to gain walkable access to these areas? It's my first time going to Houston so I don't know anything about the parking situation there. Thanks

Not sure where to tell you to park because I am out of the nightlife scene for the most part. I will tell you to watch closely for no parking signs - they tow like crazy. Be sure you park in an area that isn't marked "no parking." Sometimes they are mark obviously and other times they are marked a little more obscure, so you have to look good.

When I go Midtown I usually park in the Spec's parking lot at 2410 Smith St. As for Washington Ave just find a place along the street to park. The two areas are not close enough to walk to each other from so don't expect to park Midtown and walk to Washington Ave.

Park on a street or pay for parking. Sometimes I valet. Just depends on what bars you want to hit. Pay close attention to parking signs.

Contact the jitney shuttle service we have (aka the "party bus") called The Wave. They'll pick you up and drop you off again if you arrange it with them ahead of time, and the fare is $10-$15 for the whole night depending on where you wanna go.

I attempt to valet wherever possible. It really is worth the cost of not having to drive around looking for a spot, worrying about vandalism, getting towed, etc.

Washington - Rebel's Honkytown has a paid parking lot. It's central to all the bars/clubs on the west end.

Midtown almost every bar/club/restaurant has valet. I would just use it. I've never walked out of an establishment after midnight and regretted having done so.

Definitely don't do this, you risk getting your car towed.

I just park wherever I can find a spot, usually at a larger restaurant or store that's open. That way, they won't know if you're a patron or not. If you're going to drink though, call a cab or carpool with someone.
