Hey TFW46, I was wondering if you can set up the sensor in one room and have the barking come from another room?

It's all one unit -- the sensor and sound are contained inside the one piece. You might be able to take it apart and re-wire it so the sensor can be in another room, but I'm not sure.

One thing: movement behind/around the unit will also activate the barking. I had to set up a small piece of cardboard behind both of my units so that my walking by it in the house wouldnt trigger the alarm. Of course, I dont usually have it "on" when I'm at home so that problem is minor (for me).

Wow, some paranoid people on here. Set your AC to 82-85, put a couple of lights on a timer(simple rule of leave on all night and people will think you are awake), put a hold on your mail and you are good.

Don't forget to get someone to cut your lawn while you are gone and maybe water if we don't get rain.

Yeah, if you have someone checking on your home for your mail, etc. I would NOT stop my mail. That notifies a lot of people within the post office (who may inform their friends) that you are out of town for xx amount of days. If you have a neighbor you know or friend who can drive by daily to pick up any newspapers thrown on your driveway and flyers and business cards stuck to your door, that is advisable. Hire a lawn service and pay in advance (don't tell them you will be gone) to maintain the lawn while you are away.

I don't think it's paranoid to make your house the least attractive to a burglar. I'm not having guns in my house or jumping at every noise. It's a big city and house burglaries are always part of the equation.

But if a shark is in the water you don't have to be the fastest swimmer - just faster than the slowest swimmer. So I'll do everything within reason to make a burglar choose a house on the next street over.
