How are you getting the title? Since you are not there to sign the title ANYONE can get that title and say it is their car. I hope this is someone you trust dearly because this has disaster written all over it.

And to the person who made a comment about a certain community that takes cars, patches them up, and sells them. That is the truth. Seen it with my own eyes. We sold a POS '93 Corsica for $300 that had major rust underneath, needed all new struts, suspension, brake lines (were about to rust off), tires, cv joints. I mean this car was a major hazard on the road and extremely dangerous. We were honest and told the person who bought it what was wrong. THAT NIGHT, we see it sitting on the corner for sale for $1500. I feel really sorry for whoever bought it if they paid any where near that.

yes I DO TRUST THEM - she is a colleague, not some person from craigslist.

she enquired about the title transfer from the courthouse yesterday and they said I have to be there for it to happen. so that sucks. I cant be there.

I dont know if there is an organization such as dealer you could pay in Houston to handle this matter. I bought a car off a lease and the dealer handled the buying process for me for $100. Sounds like you have this pretty well lined up but wanted to raise this as an option to learn from the CD posters for my own benefit if it isnt of interest to you.
