I bought a new construction (About 3200 sqft and 3 car garage) and closing sometime end of April. I was getting quotes for Home Owner's Insurance and the first one I got from Liberty Mutual is about $1450. Is that normal or high? Seemed a little high to me but this is my first house. So no experience.

I was just trying get a fill what people are paying and suggestions about where else I shop to get a better deal while maintaining good coverage.

Note:Liberty Mutual was above the standard policy, they call it all risk or something like that and they don't carry any other with 1% deductible and 2% for Hurricane.

Appreciate your responses.

I'm not insurance expert but definitely shop around.

We're playing closer to $2100/year on a slightly bigger house in Cinco.

Wow, I WISH mine was that low. I just received my renewal and it's up to $3200 (1600 sq ft house), 5% deductible on the hurricane.

Is Cinco in Harris County?

I shopped around last year for many providers and Liberty Mutual came out on top as well. Pricing sounds about the same as what I am paying now.

However, I heard people here talked about Ameriprise but I haven't got a chance to check with them. You might want to give it a try.

When we bought in Cinco Ranch, almost two years ago, our insurance was around $950 the first year. We did it through LIberty Mutual, last year when it renewed, it went up to about $1400......we live right near you, so I wouldn't think it would be too far off from that. We do have car insurance through them as well.

It should be Fort Bend.

Mine was all inclusive risk with 1% usual deductible and 2% for Hurricane/Stuff, I do have my auto rental policy with them.

I got a comparable rate from the affiliated insurance company with my builder. Have a long list to get my quotes from

don't forget... if you want flood insurance... that is separate. you aren't be in a flood plain, so not required... but you never know. i had a coworker whose house was in a 500 year flood plain, and a storm (not hurricane) of a lifetime came through and his house was completely flooded - basement and first floor. (not in tx). he luckily had flood insurance.

ASI has lower price. It's a new house, should be around $1200.
1% deductible on the hurricane.

Sounds about right. My policy with Liberty Mutual last year ran about $1150 (3400 sq. ft) but this year it's gone up to $1400. I talked to the agent and they said policies have gone up about 20%-30% across the board. Try getting a quote with State Farm, on their website they quoted me $3600.
