Hi

I have just moved from Australia to Houston because my husband got a job here. I am also 30 weeks pregnant.
We have full medical insurance and I brought all of my pre-natal medical records.
My problem is that no OBGYN's will take me on as a patient.
I have called approximately 15-20 OBGYN's and explained that I have just moved and have insurance but they all say that "I have missed the cut off". Eventually I found out the "cut-off" is the amount of weeks you are along before they refuse you as a patient, it ranges from 25-28 weeks.
So here I am in a new country, 30 weeks pregnant and no Doctors are willing to even give me an appointment.
I didn't expect this as there is no "cut-off" rule in Australia.
If anyone could give me some advise it would be much appreciated!
Thank you

Not much advice, but my wife uses Dr. Bethany Peterson on Kingsland Blvd. She is great, so you might want to check with her office.

She isn't in Katy, but in Sugar Land, but if you get stuck, check with Dr. Shannon Crowe's office. I love them. Good luck.

I live in Katy, but my OB was Dr. Patricia Thayer over at Hermann Memorial (about a 30 minute drive away). 713-935-9791 You could at least try them.

The best way to get in somewhere may be to have someone make a personal introduction. Does your husband have a work friend or colleague who could introduce you to their own personal OB? You absolutely do need medical care and I would think that some place would take you.

If you are really desperate, private message me. My college friend is an OB in Missouri City. I could at least ask him about your situation and get some recommendations.

My recommendation to anyone is always midwives. Good luck and congrats!

Katy Birth Center

Can't say 100% but I feel pretty sure they would take you as a client.

Thank you to everyone who posted in response.
My preferred hospital has been kind enough to recommend me to a OBGYN who is happy to take me on as a patient.
Thank you again and take care.
