I have a Toyota Camry that needs a new catylitic converter per the last person who did the diagnostic test when the check engine light came on. It's the back converter that is not easily accessible and of course, the much more expensive one. At the time I could not have the work done because I was making a 140 mile round trip commute every day due to a new job and only had one car. Now I have a second car and have moved much closer to work. But since I'm not from this area, I have no idea who could do the work in a professional, trustworthy way. Nor do I want to drive half way to Beaumont to have the person who quoted me last do the work.

So any referrals for a shop that can do that kind of work in the North Houston, Champions, Tomball or Cypress area? Thanks!

We've brought our various Hondas to Select Automotive over the years for brakes, exhaust, transmission work, etc, and have had a good experience.

Google: Select Automotive Houston.

USA auto care on kuykendahl is a good one man shop if he's not busy. Kahn's fair and does good work. He's not the fastest but he's always gotten the job done right (no job weld to cover up mistakes).

Is your Camry less than 8 years old and have less than 80,000 miles? If so, you should be able to have it replaced at no charge under warranty. Under federal law the catalytic converter, emissions control unit (ECU), and the onboard emissions diagnostic device (OBD) are covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first.

These guys have done exhaust work for me several times, cat on a Chevy 2500hd, muffler on a Jeep, and I think they put exhaust on a Thunderbird for me. Good people, waiting area isnt exactly an operating room, but they are honest and do good work.

Ive only used the Bear Creek location

Rippleys muffler on 1960 and Kuykendahal. They are honest and will give you a no bs approach. It could be a simple leak throwing the code. Let Tommy Rippley take a look. They have done all my trucks.

You need an exhaust shop, not a regular mechanic.

Meme's Muffler. I can't remember where it is exactly but somewhere by West Little York in Katy (or near Katy). I used them a few years ago. They knew what they were doing and the prices were reasonable. I bet they'll weld in a new cat for $300 or less
