Already a really nice theater downtown (Sundance). If they want to put a luxury theater somewhere they should put it in River Oaks, Memorial, Bellaire or West University.

An over saturation in the area will probably make them both fail.

I don't think this is a great idea. Downtown needs actual residents and after hours population to keep both of these places open. It is way too dead even at 11pm.

A movie theatre could be a good draw to the businesses and clubs that are already in the pavilions and that would be nice. Maybe if it began to draw patrons then perhaps some other retail might be able to make it there. People don't want to live downtown because there isn't anything there.

Exactly! Not to mention all the business and convention types who come from out of town and stay downtown. They don't want to be driving all of the city trying to find a movie theather. Slow progress people, it takes time but we are getting there. I work on the eastside of downtown, and when I stared aobut 9 years ago there wasn't anything really on that side of downtown close to the convention center. Now you have Toyota center, Discovery Green, One Park place apartments, Phoenicia Grocery Store, Hess Building, Hotel Americas, Embassy suites, The Pavillions(House of Blues, Lucky Strike, Forever 21, Comcast sports Studios etc.)

Sundace only show "independant" films. There is probably a bigger market for big budget Hollywood type movies.

While this idea seems nice, I think I would rather see the Alamo Drafthouse go in the planned Midtown location. Like someone said, there's already the Sundance movie theater 5 blocks away. And not to mention, the Alamo Drafthouse planned for Regency Square will be straight up Allen Parkway which is less than 2 miles away. All these movie theaters will definitely oversaturate the market.

That's not true. They show the exact same movies as the other theaters.

These are the movies showing there tonight:

A Good Day to Die Hard

Safe Haven

Identity Thief

Side Effects

Silver Linings Playbook

Zero Dark Thirty

Argo

Bless Me, Ultima

A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III
