Believe it or not, Home Depot sells some decent moving boxes, for a fraction of what you'll pay at 1/2 price boxes or at other "moving stores".

Good quality, assorted sizes. If I remember right a medium box was around $0.99.

Yes, Home Depot and Lowes sell them cheap to get you in the store. Box stores rip you off--that's their only profit source.

Harbor Freight has good deals on moving blankets. Look for printable HF coupons online.

Yes, a medium box is $1.17. I have a ton of them in our garage right now...

Plastic storage totes work; I bought them on sale over a few months at different stores. I like them because, easier to lift and moisture is not a problem.

I have to second the person who recommended Freecycle. It's for people looking for or giving away stuff for free. There's always people looking for used boxes, and people giving away theirs when they're done with them.

Not only are they free, they have dividers in them - works fantastic for glasses.

I used boxes from Walmart recently (free). I had to go early in the morning and pick as many as I wanted from the loading dock area.
If you have the time there are some great deals for moving blankets online. I used eBay while a friend once got a good deal on amazon.
