This coming from the weird clown who has issues with suburbs.

I have issues with the awful Houston suburbs... Because I've seen very nice suburbs that aren't an hour+ from jobs.

See thread:

If no traffic, you can do Sugar Land to downtown in under 30 minutes, but of course there will be traffic.

If Fort Bend Tollway would extend an additional 3 miles to 610 the commute from Sienna Plantation and Riverstone would be fairly easy but of course Houston will never build that segment.

Also you can imput the times your wife will be commuting and figure out typical traffic for those periods

And the OP really should make test commutes before buying a home.

I doesn't take over a hour to drive Pearland (288) or Kingwood/Humble (59) to and from downtown during rush hour traffic. Are you high???

BTW; lol it's about the same in terms of miles, but when you factor commute times it isn't even close(cypress 290 is the worse). I'm sure you knew that before running off at the mouth

It doesn't take an hour from Sugar Land either. There's a bottleneck at Beltway 8 where US 59 goes from 4 lanes into 3 and then back to 4, I think Houston did that on purpose to discourage people moving far out of the city. Kinda like how they made West Park Tollway only 2 lanes each way even though 3 or 4 are actually needed.

What about West University? The homes are older but it is a VERY Nice area and a skip away from downtown. Other than that, Summerwood/Fall Creek meets your criteria. I stay near Summerwood/Fall Creek and commute is about 25-40 minutes depending on traffic.

Pearland area is your best bet for commute around 30 minutes, but if you can wait there is a master-planned community coming up soon in north Houston. I commute from The Woodlands to UH in 30-35 minutes (each workday), if I drive the speed limit, granted I go to work a little before dawn and from work a little after lunch. I would recommend Sugarland, but the 59 at the 610 interchange and the stretch going to downtown before 288 are hellish, even on weekends. If you have to commute during peak hours, most definitely avoid the suburbs, but Pearland is the closest of all features your looking for.

288 traffic into downtown from Pearland is horrible during rush hour. Anywhere along the 59 North Corridor is better.
