Are there any areas that are comparable to Plano in Houston?

I am considering moving to Houston and would love any insight on which school systems are the best. Which private schools are the best and what areas to stay clear from.

DH and I are both 30 we have a 13 yr old and one year old.
Things that are most important to us:
Safety
Schools
Surroundings( and the people in them)
Diversity
Activities for the children especially the 13 yr old.

Yes, The Woodlands would be the closest, and is laid out better and more naturally beautiful than Plano. Most of Houston's suburbs are quite a bit smaller in population than Plano, as Houston itself has a larger population than Dallas, but in terms of quality, The Woodlands is a mix of Plano & Southlake. I guess the 2nd answer would be Sugar Land.

I like it what I see on the woodlands website. I did see it was not as racially diverse as Plano however. Still looking at the other factors.

I've been told that Clements High School in Sugar Land (Fort Bend ISD) is the closest you get to PISD down there. Similar in nature- it's very competitive and has a large Asian population. Perhaps you might want to look at that.

Sugar Land is the closest thing. The schools are not as good, but you will get the diversity.

Default Katy and Sugar Land

Katy and Sugar Land would be comparable to Plano. Moreso Sugar Land.

In Houston it better to find out where you will be working then hone in on location. Commuting time is a big issue in the area.

No Plano is a small wealthy city. The other two are suburbs. I'm guessing Allen is Plano's suburb.

Plano (city) QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau (Plano)
Allen (city) QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau (Allen)
Sugar Land (city) QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau (Sugar Land)
The Woodlands CDP QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau (The Woodlands)

The Woodlands is right in between Spring and Conroe so it's not like you won't see some kind of diversity in The Woodlands. It's not a mecca of diversity but this is Houston metropolitan area so people from other areas of Houston esp. cutting through major highways like I-45 intermingle all the time.

SHERIKA, I currently live in Sugar Land, and believes it meets all of your criteria above. The area I live in is racially, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse. I'm happy with my childrens' elementary school. I live in a sub-division where I can easily walk/bike to 2 major grocery stores, retail shopping, restaurants, and organized activities for young kids and older ones too (gymnastics, TKD, video arcade, soccer field, playground, park). Certainly, depending on where you live in Sugar Land, your experience will vary from this, but my feeling is that Sugar Land overall is a great place to live for families. Please PM me if you'd like further details.
