It wasn't really high speed and it was a complete joke. Police throwing the spikes too late, throwing the spikes into their fellow police members vehicles. Driving like 20 mph behind the criminal instead of just ramming him in the side.

The whole thing went on for like an hour just circling the city on 610, wasting gas and wasting tax dollars. Does this happen here alot?

I didn't see it live, but I saw the part where he took out the police cars door!

Saw it live on TV...doubt it's common in Houston but common for robbing in this depressing economy instead of picking apart the jobs of those who put their lives on the line in this, BE THANKFUL noone was injured or killed. When speeding vehicles and weapons are manned by crazy suspects on the loose in neighborhoods, cops aren't gonna sideswipe a vehicle or shoot out their windows. Its not a video game...I'm proud of Texas' finest!

If they don't shoot 'em dead here first, it oftentimes leaves law enforcement flummoxed.

The kind of stuff you see in the movies is more dangerous than it looks, which is why every single step is pre-planned. It's staged purely for audience thrills and bears little resemblance to how cops actually operate. Maimed cops or a maimed suspect might cost the city tens of millions in legal, medical and other expenses. Having commuters wait is a small price for getting everyone home safe and sound.
