Okay, Guy went there so I ventured to T-Bone Tom's for the first time. Had a steak. WTF? That was sad. However, I could eat bucketsfull of their sides and the sweet tea was just right. Those green beans are to die for and don't even get me started about the Armadillo Eggs! Whoop!

the production team reads yelp, interviews people etc to determine a list of restaurants theyd be interested in featuring. then they ask the restaurants if they could do it. quite a few turn them down. the ones that dont.... well

Heck - I could of told you TT was bad....I live out in the area - Tookies ain't all that great either.
Want some kick butt oysters? Go to Gillhooleys in San Leon. A true dive (and no kids or dogs allowed...lol)
Best damn oysters on the half shell you will ever suck down. The gumbo bar in Galveston on the Strand has awesome BBQ oysters on the half shell.

Now for DDD - try Lankfords Diner...in Mid Town.

Yeah, TBoneToms has a lot on their menus (seafood, chicken, pork, steaks, BBQ) and doesn't do any one thing particularly outstanding. Armadillo Eggs are great, as are a lot of their other apps and sides... I've also enjoyed their sirloin/shrimp combo, which is a great deal. Despite their name, they are not a top of the line steakhouse that offers prime grade or kobe beef. Having kids, one thing is they give out giant kids meals at standard prices ($5 or so). So we're able to split one between two kids.

Now dissing Tookies is just crazy talk. Outstanding specialty burgers, dripping with delicious ooze. I will say I don't think the burgers are as good after Ike, but the difference is very slight. The owner of TBoneToms is the one that bought and reopened Tookies after Ike... but they've kept everything pretty much the same.
