I was in Houston this weekend (I moved to San Antonio about a year ago) and was driving in the area I use to live in when I saw an interesting city street sign on Coppage St right off Washington Ave. south of 1-10. This street runs right next to Bubba's Bar and Grill on Wescott. The sign said something about a request to abandon the street and to call a number for comments. What does this mean? Has Bubba's requested to abandon the street so they can build parking there?

The owner of the Bubba's property and the owner of the property across Coppage wish to combine the properties for some commercial purpose (for what, I don't know) and are seeking to abandon the small section of Coppage that runs between Washington and Wescott.

They are doing the same by my office at West Dallas and Montrose. Connecting two parcels of land separated by Wilkenson St. to put in a big strip center or something on the corner.
