.....hey folks - I live near Katy and am looking for a fish farm to take my two sons to so they can catch lots of fish easily, thus peaking their interest in this outdoor pursuit

....I'll take them to catch marlin when they're older - I just want to find a fish farm where they can have fun with bass, cats, and panfish - they have their own poles and a shared tackle box and the neccessary enthusiasm - I just don't want to have them sitting in the heat not catching anything

So can anyone tell me about any fish farms/sure-fire places to take them? - I would really appreciate any help/guidance! - thanks!

I'm not sure but would also like to know also about the fish farm. Kudos for taking your kids fishing and having them gain interest in the sport. I know what you mean sitting in the heat all day not catching nothing. I hope you find one I'll try asking around fishing community.

I haven't been but I've heard that Mary Jo Peckham Park in Katy is nice. I've driven through just to look at it, and saw all kinds of kids fishing around the lake.

Harris County - Precinct Three Commissioner Steve Radack - Mary Jo Peckham Park

I believe this pond is stocked every month, or other month, I forget. Find out when they do this, then go fishing! Kids will not need a license. It's late now, but in cool months, they actually will put trout in there. I think now it's catfish and other fish that can tolerate warm weather.

One of my coworkers takes his young daughter fishing at Hermann Park there is a pier or something you can fish off. Only ages 12 and under are allowed to fish. From what he says they are always biting and the kids are pulling some big bass out of there.

Check any county information before you go. We spent a whole day going from one county designated fishing hole to another. We even called the precinct and the parks people. Their information was no where near current.

Every state park in Texas has free fishing for kids and adults.

Brazos Bend State Park is really nice. Big bass. The park has a huge alligator population so keep an eye out for them.

Huntsville State Park is really nice as well. Big catfish, decent bass.

Galveston State Park is nice too. No shade cover at all. Get SPF 1000 for the kids. Great fishing. You will catch something.

Have a great day!

Isn't part of fishing sitting there for hours not catching a single thing and bonding with an adult? I have some great memories with my Dad fishing, it was about sitting there talking about life and just relaxing watching the world go by.

Depending on how old your children are if you want to catch something for sure, take them off shore on charter boat.
