Houston is a city that embraces individual freedoms which makes the cost of living lower and residents happier. Its a can do city with a lot of engineers per capita compared to most any US city.... so can do is correct it can. Manufacturing is its image too and thats good to me.... means people can earn a good wage with interesting value added work.

But if I have to sum it up in a word...its freedom

Houston is awesome and Houston is home, to me, my wife and my kids. I wasn't born here but it is home. Does "HOME" qualify as the "identity"?

Decent video. And it is a person sharing his opinion....I love city pride. Wish we could keep that going in the discussion.

P.S. Please stop on the freedom....Houston and Texas only lets certain people be free...it is conservative. Can I buy my damn bottle of tequila on Sunday? No...why...because conservatives tell me I can't. No freedom there. Don't even get me into equal rights..we know that doesn't exist in Texas. Lots of people conform here in Houston...lots of roll playing....lots of big box Churches......so please....on the freedom stuff.

LOL....but you don't deny it.... Same goes for the freedom comment....many cities allow freedom...and better economies...that is why so many rural folks move to the cities...to be free and have more job choices economically. So good answer for any city generally....but think we are talking about Houston's identity.

I am new to Houston...and over all have a very positive opinion of this city. Just can't put my finger on it yet...identity wise. What will I tell my friends next month..when I am trying to describe why Houston is great? How does one share the benefits of living here...that make it unique from other American cities? They have already heard all the crap....so I want just the good and the "uniqueness" of Houston.
