Heights or midtown/museum district if you can afford it. In either case, live close to the highways. What are your other criteria? I assume you'll only see family in the wknds. You can take 59 to sugaralnd and Stafford, Westpark toll or IH10 to Katy. Galleria or Bellaire aren't too bad either, you can go on 610 to 45 and bypass the downtown traffic. In the evening it will be a parking lot if you return during rush hour however.

I think you mean I-10 east (not west), to 59 south, to 288. Which is basically what I was saying.

I would say The Heights as well. It is a nice area not too far from the Medical Center and reverse traffic to The Woodlands. Sugar Land is not that bad to get to on the weekends from The Heights.

Those are nice parts of town. Good luck with everything. Maybe you can start looking for jobs closer to your new home.
