I'm looking for a place to stay, in or around Houston. My goal is to get a job, feel out the area, and later find a place that's permanent. I'd like to find something on the west side, for maybe $750 a month. But, since I'm not very familiar with the area, I'm open to suggestions. I'm a single, heterosexual male, with a blue collar background and an Associates Degree in Computer Networking. Thanks in advance for your input. It's much appreciated. Merry Christmas to you all, and happy new years.

Are you looking to rent somewhere or stay at a hotel?

Hi Beto,
Actually, both. Since I wouldn't have a job, right away, I thought I would stay in a hotel short term, and then later settle down [in an apartment] close to my employer. Thanks for your response.

Due to the skyline, I'd like to be "close" to downtown. But, I don't want to live there. Katy is too far away, but Uptown, Memorial, and Energy corridor all sound great. Thanks for your response.

I would suggest looking near the energy corridor. I used to live in an apartment complex in 77077 and it was all right. Very 80s but affordable in general.

Thanks Janicec,
Just wondering, how much do hotels and apartments go for in that area?

Hi Peaches,
What's the name of the place where you use to stay, also how much was rent? Thanks for sharing with me.

The Myriad. $550 a month for a 500 sqft unit. Apparently it's connected to subsidized housing but I didn't have any problems.
