I am looking for a good Pediatrician who accepts United Healthcare and Medicaid (prefer in SW/Westchase area)

My current Pediatrician is ok, whatever questions we ask, he always say "it's normal" but I don't feel comfortable with his answers.

My 7 weeks old baby has baby acne, she spits a lot and poop after each feeding, but for this doc, it is normal.

I want to take my baby to a good pediatrician who can actually diagnose what's wrong with my baby.

Thanks in advance for your help

7 week old babies do tend to get rashes, spit up a lot, and poop after they eat. I know. I raised three of them. I doubt your pediatrician is an idiot.

Pooping and spitting a lot sounds pretty normal to this parent of two....

they sell effective washes for baby acne. it's basically the milder the better. all the pinching of cheeks and kissing doesn't help but i guess for a parent that is hard to stop. wash them up afterwards

spitting up - are you burping her? how are you feeding? what kind of bottle do you use or are you breast feeding? perhaps try a soy formula. not totally uncommon for infants to be lactose intolerant. if you are african american or the baby was premature it is even more common

is the poop still all "tar" like, like when the baby was newborn?

overall question: is the baby still gaining weight? then in the end the spitting and the pooping doesn't matter. if there was a problem with digestion/feeding she wouldn't be growing and most definitely your doctor would tell you something. you can look up the average length/weight for a 7 week old

Check to see if there is a nearby office of Texas Children's Pediatric Associates nearby. I take my kid to the Bellaire blvd location and they always provide good service.

A lot of times the doctor choice may not necessarily be the doctor's knowledge, but the rapport he/she has with the patient and in this case you as the patient's parent.

For the baby acne, have you tried switching baby soap/lotion? If you don't already have, try getting unscented products. Also try doing baby's laundry with unscented/dye & scent-free products (Dreft comes to mind).

If I were you keep a good food log of how much milk, etc she's taking and how frequent are the BM's. If you decide to switch doctors he/she will have a better idea of your concerns.

She is breastfeeding by using bottles. I am using Dr Brown bottles. From the last visit to doc, she is gaining enough weight as per doc. She is not premature.

Go online to your UnitedHealthcare personal account and search for Pediatricians. Nobody here is going to give you a comprehensive list of "recommended" doctors that accept UHC.

I am using Aveeno baby products (nothing on face though- just plain water) and as far as laundry, I am also using Dreft.
My doc said that she should eat between 90-100 ml in each feeding. I am giving her 80 ml and she does not finish all of it all the time.

My baby is six weeks old and man, can she poop after each feeding! And she does have baby acne as well, and according to our pediatrician and the nurses at the Mommy & Me group I attend, it's quite normal. In fact, it disappears from one area and pops up in another. It has something do with the hormones in her body and as those dissipate, the acne should also disappear. Now, the spitting up, as long as your baby is gaining weight, it should be okay.

We use Fannin Pediatrics in the Med Center; they take United Healthcare, but not sure about Medicaid.

Baby acne at that age is very common, all four of my kids had it and it cleared on its own. Spitting up is also totally common. You could try a slower flow bottle and burping her during the feeding. If she isn't distressed and screaming when spitting up then it's as they say "a laundry problem and not a medical problem". And the pooping thing is definitely normal. Breast milk digests faster than formula and therefore you have more frequent dirty diapers. As long the poop is yellowish and seedy you are good. If it's green and mucousy then that could be a sign of something else. And also because breast milk does digest faster than formula then smaller more frequent feedings are the way to go. You should make sure your Ped is taking into account the fact that you are breastfeeding (by bottle) and doesn't use the same standards as they would for a formula fed baby. Because the 2 are very different. It does all sound like normal kind of stuff for babies but you should listen to your mommy instinct and if it seems out of the realm of normal then find a new doc.
