Anyone have any great vegetarian or vegan restaurants (or even regular restaurants with a good selection of those foods) that you can recommend. Looking anywhere from Galveston to 59/Kirby areas.

This may be too far from 59/Kirby for you, but when I was vegetarian I often ate at Mantra Fine Indian Cuisine in Sugar Land. Their food is very tasty.

vishala on hwy 6 across from the first colony area - indo-pak buffet and grocery (imo best indian in houston - strictly veg)
fields of green - veg and vegan in the upper kirby area
madras pavilion - indian on kirby and richmond
go to little india section of town on hilcroft and take your pick
baba yaga and the ruggles chain have tasty veg options without being veg restaurants
brazil in montrose - "hip" veg options (mostly sandwiches) but its a cool place for the atmosphere

some of the best indian/asian restaurants in houston are vegetarian. quan yin in chinatown is a good chinese(?) one

rudyards neighborhood pub in montrose used to have the best garden burger but last time i had one it was eh

I second Field of Greens and Baba Yega's as vegetarian/vegan friendly. I would add The Pepper Tree on Richmond near Wesleyan (Greenway) as another option -- completely vegetarian with vegan options.

Crickets on 19th St in the Heights has great sandwiches and ice-cream and is completely vegetarian. Also Madras Pavillion on Kirby near 59 is vegetarian and I think also kosher.

Would also suggest Ziggy's in Montrose, The Hobbit Cafe (Richmond near Kirby), and the various 'Creek Cafes' in the Heights are all very vegetarian-friendly. For Tex-Mex, Chuy's on Westheimer is a great option because their rice, beans and tortillas are all vegetarian and their veggie enchiladas are awesome (not just a bunch of cheese). Empire Cafe on Westheimer is another good option with yummy cakes. Mi Luna in Rice Village has a great selection of vegetarian tapas.

Wow - thanks for all the suggestions - I do love the veggie enchiladas at Chuys. I also like Baba Yega.
