We'll see how long all that lasts down here.
This is Texas, not California.
Texas will always pay its retail workers like crap.
Just the way things are done down here.

Agreed.

I shopped at both when I lived in California - they're different stores so I don't know why people are always going on & on about how much better WF is (kind of like the burger and "my city is better than your city" discussions) over TJs.

And yes - it's cheaper. For people who can't afford to shop all the time (or at all) at WF, TF's is a great option.

My cousin will be bummed that she can't send me TJ gifts from Jersey anymore. LOL

Eh...I can't say I'm too thrilled with the continued Californication of Texas. People in DFW might embrace it but Houstonians are too unique to want to be just another outpost for Californians. (Talk about uppity...they put DFW to shame.)

Prime example: Cheesecake Factory (California based). Can't even get a sweet tea in that place and their food sux.

Only thing I want out of California is "Sunshine Foods" from St. Helena. Trader JoeShmoe and Whole Foods can't hold a candle to it.

Oh yeah, and maybe the Hog Island Oysters at the PCH location.

Who cares where the food comes from or where the HQ is run out of. If it's good, I'll take it.

Their food is awful & over-priced for what it is, imo. That is one place where I just don't get the hype.

BTW - A lot of us who moved here from CA really like raising our families here and are adapting to being Texans - including exploring the different local eateries and things to do.

Just because transplants happen to like SOME of the familiar things from California doesn't make everyone uppity or whatever crappy description others prefer to use. Y'all make it sound like just because something came out of CA (Jack-in-the-Box, Cheesecake Factory, Carl's Jr), all ex-Californians are going to flock to it or think it's better than the Houston alternative.

Luckily, you don't have to patronize those businesses if you don't want to! How cool is that?

It's great, actually. Still, the Californians I've encountered tend to be uppity.

Only the rich ones. Some of us don't have anything to be uppity about.

Don't we really want TJ's to succeed?? I mean, by going in there, they are saving the Alabama. Isn't that kind of why we would all want to support them instead of shooting them down before they even get to TX?
